The notch trowel is used for professional tile and stone installations and DIY renovation. It creates a uniform bed thickness of tile adhesive so tile adheres fully to the substrate, reducing air pockets, hollow sounds and adhesive wastage. Different notch sizes give different adhesive bed thicknesses.
