About this product
Tata Structura SHS are welded structural tubes made by Tata Steel Tubes SBU by high-frequency induction welding of hot-rolled coil, conforming to IS 4923. The brochure lists section properties for each size and wall thickness presently rolled (51 combinations from 25x25 to 250x250 mm), with 150, 180, 220 and 250 mm sizes marked as large diameter sections.
Key features
- Excellent distribution of material around the axis, giving high strength-to-weight ratio
- up to 30 % savings in steel
- Cost effective: high radius of gyration saves material, transportation and fabrication cost
- less surface area saves paint and labour cost
- Corrosion resistant: less exposed surface area and smooth uniform profile minimise dust and moisture accumulation
- Concentric strength: higher torsional rigidity, better lateral stability and lower wind drag
- weight reduction of up to 30 %
- Convenience of fabrication: lighter, smoother profile and minimal gusset plates
- Creativity: easier bending and aesthetic smooth profile, suitable for exposed environments
- Weldable with standard M.S. electrodes without pre-heating
- Marked with the TATA STRUCTURA emblem and the standard BIS mark
Applications
- Architectural: shopping malls, canopies/atrium, glass curtain wall frames, partition frames, space frames, guard rails and staircases
- Infrastructural: airport terminal buildings, bridges, bus stands, sign supporting structures, pedestrian walkovers (footbridges), sports galleries, railway platforms / foot over bridges
- Industrial: industrial sheds, trusses, columns and purlins, material storage racks, mine roof support systems (cogs, props), pallets, pipe racks, conveyor gantries and trestles, drilling rigs, steel and power plants
- General engineering: automobile chassis, greenhouse structures, truck and bus body members, hoarding structures, amusement park and playground equipment, exhibition stalls, scaffolding, furniture, solar power plant structures
